ActorsNET was set to present our production of George Bernard Shaw's "Mrs. Warren's Profession" in March 2020 when Covid-19 forced closure of our theater the day before opening. Fortunately, we were able to record the show before we shuttered the doors.
Please visit the ActorsNET YouTube page to see our staging of this insightful and compelling play. ActorsNET relies almost solely on ticket sales for revenue, so any donation to the theater you can afford would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

In this Downton Abbey-inspired adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic love story, the King of Navarre and his three gentlemen take an oath to isolate themselves from the trivial distractions of women and love, thinking that celibacy, study, and self-improvement are the keys to maximizing their potential.
But when the Princess of France and her three ladies arrive on a diplomatic mission, the allure of abstinence quickly begins to evaporate and, eventually, something’s gotta give!
SETTING
Our play is set at the Kingdom of Navarre in northern Spain in the summer of 1914. At the end of Act V, Scene II, the new Queen of France and her ladies-in-waiting return to Paris and the King of Navarre and his three friends leave to fulfill their duties on the front lines of World War I.
They’re sure the conflict will be over in a year.
Join us next summer as the boys return from the war to resume their lovemaking in our production of “Love’s Labour’s Won,” otherwise known as “Much Ado About Nothing.”

Shakespeare in the Catskills!
A mix of 50's & 60's TV sitcoms and a dash of "Dirty Dancing"
directed by George Hartpence
SYNOPSIS:
1963. Welcome to the Windsor Hotel Resort in South Fallsburg, NY.
Shakespeare’s bright and breezy comedy of sexual jealousy, where clever women are forced to put up with dull, ego-centric men, is given a 1960s sitcom reboot, the fun played out against a landscape of summer resort leisure and that new “dirty dancing” music trend.
That old scoundrel, the fat John “Sinjin” Falstaff, erstwhile Borscht Belt nightclub entertainer headlining at the Garter Restaurant in the Windsor Resort, is down on his luck. Seeing a way to restore his fortunes, he schemes to seduce both Mrs. Page and Mrs. Ford, the vacationing wives of two wealthy NY businessmen. He sends them identical love letters, but his double-dealing ruse is discovered, and the two ladies determine to teach him a lesson… or two… or three.
Meanwhile, the irrationally jealous Frank Ford has heard of Falstaff’s plan and decides to test his wife’s fidelity. And in a subplot of young love, the Pages’ daughter, Anne “Goodbody” Page, is pursued by three suitors, each of whom is paying the hotel manager, Nell Quickly, to push their cause.
There is much mayhem, dodgy disguises, misdirected letters, a “duel” and a midnight denouement, before the tangle is unraveled, the men-behaving-badly get their comeuppance, and the good prevail.
King Lear is widely considered one of the greatest tragedies ever written. In the play, aging King Lear gives his kingdom to cold-hearted daughters Goneril and Regan, rejecting younger daughter Cordelia, who is pure of heart but too honest. Driven out by the two older women, Lear — accompanied by his faithful fool and a banished but faithful earl — confronts the fury of a violent storm, and his madness rises to meet it.
In a parallel plot, the Duke of Gloucester’s illegitimate son plots the destruction of his father and his legitimate brother, seducing both Goneril and Regan in his quest for power.
As war looms among the sisters, Lear’s harrowing descent into madness echoes growing chaos in his family and kingdom.

CentralJersey.com STAGE REVIEW: 'Sleuth' at Kelsey Theatre
by Anthony Stoeckert Oct 11, 2017
"Regardless of how well you know the play, or what you figure out if you don't know it, this is well worth seeing because "Sleuth" is fun even if you know it, and because the acting is great. Hartpence is fantastic as Andrew. He carries the swagger of a successful, somewhat cocky, man, who enjoys having power over this younger, somewhat intimidated man. Hartpence does a lot of talking and is in full command of his lines, filling the theater with a voice that is near royal. He also gets plenty of laughs, both with zingers, and physical comedy."

Stuart Duncan reviews for the Princeton Packet:
"...Hamlet by Shakespeare ‘70 at Kelsey Theatre on the campus of Mercer County Community College is a genuine theatrical delight. There’s plenty of revenge (no fewer than four dead bodies lying around at the final curtain); one of theater’s best ghosts, that being Hamlet’s father played beautifully by the veteran George Hartpence, and enough derring-do sword play to keep the most expert scholars on their toes for almost three hours."

The spring of 1942... one month before John Barrymore's death.
"A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams."
John Barrymore was the black sheep of America's most illustrious acting family. Celebrated for his charisma and matinee-idol looks, he was, for a while, America's most popular actor. Famous for his stage roles in Richard III and Hamlet, he also made more than fifty films. But alcoholism soon dissipated his talents, and he became known more for his Falstaffian behavior and outrageous high jinks than for his art.
